President of IMIA from 1983-1986, Dr. Peterson has also served as editor on many of the field’s journals, including “Methods of Information in Medicine”, “Medical Informatics”, and “Journal of Clinical Computing.”  In his native Sweden, he has helped create a national infrastructure for patient information -- the Computerized Patient Record (CPR) -- and shape legislation for protection of that information.
